Delivering Innovation

A new website user needs to know they are in the right place, right away.Y!

Getting a new lead is great, and for many small business owners, every visit to the site makes a big difference.

If your website’s home page doesn’t immediately convey who you are and reassure the user that they’re on a site relevant to their intentions, you risk bouncing the prospect back to your competitors.

What do you need to effectively show a user that they are on the right website?

The perfect headline.

Is your website continually converting visitors into leads?

The perfect headline may not seem like a big deal, but without the right one in place, it can lead a user to instantly click through or visit another website.

Your headline should be clear, encompass what you offer and how you differ from your competition.

Have you done any professional search engine optimization? If so, you are ahead of the game. But if you haven’t, then it’s time to brainstorm!

SEO is when you are trying to rank for terms related to what you do in Google’s search engine results. These should be intuitive terms examined to see if they align with how users view your product or service.

Whoever provided you with keyword targets will have checked to see if those terms are highly searched for and will provide you with a list.

Don’t use terms targeting deep pages. Look at what your general goals are to see what phrase(s) you should include. If you’re trying to rank a specific phrase above all else, be sure to include those phrases in your title.

Without those keyphrase targets, it’s up to you to assess what best describes what you offer and why a user should engage with your business.

For example, if you are a lawyer, you know where to start. You’ll want to make sure your headline includes that you’re a lawyer.

Now take a look at the details of what type of law you practice and what sets you apart from the competition.

If you are an intellectual property law firm that has been practicing for a long time, you can put together your headline quite easily: Example and example: Intellectual property law since 1966.

Aren’t you a lawyer? It is not a problem.

Another example would be a professional speaker. What makes you valuable?

If someone asked you clearly why they should hire you, what would you say?

If you’re a great morale builder and team motivator, you might try: Example Name Corporate Speak: Energizing companies to build their own success.

In both examples we indicate what the business is and its unique selling position.

If you were a brand new user and had found a website through an organic Google search or through an ad or social media post, you would know everything you need right away about whether or not you should continue on the website.

Don’t take this lightly!

Take your time and take the user’s perspective when evaluating which language to use.

The rule of thumb is that you have 3-5 seconds to grab your user’s attention or they will bounce off. Websites are all about user experience, so don’t start yours with the wrong message.
