Delivering Innovation

Peter Jackson was born on Halloween 1961! Director, writer, actor, producer and … a genius. Growing up in New Zealand, he developed a keen interest in horror movies. You can tell that he was filming from an early age. Jackson began his film career as a fanatic amateur, creating small films with simple technical means and with the help of a couple of friends. Unlike other New Zealand film directors, Jackson has stayed in New Zealand to make films, preferring that Hollywood come to him, rather than going to Hollywood to make his films.

His biggest influences, as he suggests, are: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Evil Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and the horror movies Hammer. “Bad Education”.

Despite being a perfectionist, he has a reputation for needing a significantly lower budget than other directors to achieve spectacular results and is also known for his bad taste in clothing. Jackson has his own way of presenting antithetical themes; cuteness, fairy tale, epic heroism and violence appear with equal success and strangely in his hero and anti-hero films.

A spot as an actor in a 1965 Swedish film entitled “The Sandpiper” was the first.

Aside from Lord of the Rings, my favorite Peter Jackson movie is still Heavenly Creatures. A brief reference: Heavenly Creatures (1994) is a Peter Jackson film, based on the true story. Two imaginative young girls become “best friends” and become increasingly involved in a wild fantasy world that exists only in their imagination. Their families begin to worry about the strange friendship of the girls and forbid them to see each other. They murder the mother of one of the girls, motivated by her fantastic characters. Nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, the film also launched the career of actress Kate Winslet, nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
