Delivering Innovation

Summer is on the verge of arrival. It’s that time of year when you wake your air conditioners out of their deep sleep, that is, if they work like air conditioners. However, after this long period of inactivity, a number of problems may arise that may become difficult to deal with in the future. Therefore, it is important to check your air conditioning units carefully before using them for the first time after a winter break.
Here are some common air conditioner problems you should be aware of.

internal water leak

If there is a water leak from the indoor unit of your air conditioner, that is the first sign, and probably the only sign you will get, of an indoor water leak. Now, the main cause of this leak is the blockage of the condensate drain of the machine.
Many algae or fungi that prefer the cold of air conditioners can create such a buildup and when there is no space, the water coming out of the air conditioner can burst on the wall. A broken condensate pump could also cause this leak.
There may also be leaks on the outside that you can easily identify with a look at the outside or at the exhaust of the air conditioner.

AC refrigerant leak

Freon, also known as AC refrigerant, cools the air inside your air conditioner. According to its name, it is the refrigerant in the air conditioner that is actually responsible for cooling your house or wherever the air conditioner is placed. The refrigerant can weaken over time and leaks can occur, reducing its cooling power and ultimately that of your air conditioner. In addition to an air conditioner that is not working properly, you will have one on hand that is harmful to the environment in your home.

Dirty AC filter

This problem is perhaps the most common of all. In fact, the first thing people do without contacting an expert or an air conditioner repairman is to check the air conditioner filter for dust or dirt buildup. You can easily tell with a glance or a swipe of your finger. If there is too much dirt and dust, you should take out the filter and blow it out with a vacuum cleaner or dust blower.
Your air conditioner will not turn on or produce cool air if your air filter is not clean.

Malfunctioning fan

If there was a list, a malfunctioning AC fan would come right under a dusty AC filter.
The exterior or exhaust of an air conditioner draws heat from inside a house to the outside by means of a fan located inside the outside. This fan, along with many other parts of an AC, is a crucial piece of the puzzle; if it does not work properly, the AC may overheat and cause a trip, damaging the AC completely and leading to internal damage.

Some other problems that may be encountered are electrical control failure and evaporator coil icing. Both these and the problems mentioned above have solutions that you can check with repairmen.
