Dead Rising 2 crashing can occur if your sound card’s audio sample rate is set to anything higher than 24-bit/48000 Hz. To fix this issue, follow the steps below:

1.Click Start | Control Panel.

2. Click Hardware and Sound | Sound.

3. Click the Playback tab.

4. Click the Properties button after choosing the active speakers.

5. Click the Advanced tab.

6. Select the option named 24 bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality).

7. Click OK | IT’S OKAY.

8. Restart the game.

Force the game to run in DirectX 9 mode

To prevent the game from crashing, force it to run in DirectX 9 mode as shown below:

1. Insert the Dead Rising 2 installation disc.

2. Open this directory:

My Computer\Redist

3. Install each and every app stored there.

4. Open this directory:

My documents | MyGames | Formula One | hardware settings

5. Right-click the file named hardware_settings_config.xml and select Open with | Memo pad.

6.Click Edit | Replace or press Ctrl+H.
