If life gives you lemons, that’s bad news. When your doctor gives you lemons, say thank you.

The treatment of many common ailments is being found in the skin of the much maligned lemon. To be more specific, the extract is called a bioflavonoid and can be found in many fruits, including lemons, oranges, grapefruit, limes, and blueberries, to name just a few.

What is so intriguing, are the reported successes as a side effect free treatment for a very diverse list of symptoms. Just some of them are;

  • Anti-inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.
  • Bread relief from bruises
  • As an antibacterial agent
  • cataract treatment
  • Taste

Citrus-based bioflavonoids have long been known to increase the absorption of vitamin C, an important antioxidant. One of the most promising uses of citrus extract is for the treatment of Tinnitus. The ability to open cochlear pathways may suggest further potential for use in capillary-related ailments.

Doug A. Kaufmann of knowthecause has written extensively about a possible link between cancer and fungi due to their mycotoxin byproduct. Antibiotics are themselves mycotoxins. This suggests that antibiotics may be a very bad treatment for cancer. To date, with no cure for cancer found in antibiotics or otherwise, this seems like a fair assumption. If indeed a link to fungi is found, it may be the humble lemon extract, once again to the rescue, as bioflavonoids are also used as antifungals.

Bilberry has long been a favorite for treating decreased vision or sharpening night vision. The bioflavonoid extract from this fruit shows great promise in treating conditions stemming from a weak optic nerve and even cataracts.

Arthritis has long eluded a cure. Glucosamine has been the treatment of choice in recent years; however, for many people the results have been less than satisfactory. New treatments for inflammation include hyaluronic acid and bioflavonoids.

There really is no downside to treatment with this natural lipoflavonoid. Pills are always easy to take and are certainly a cost-effective option. The most pleasant way to ingest it is by eating dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is not only rich in antioxidants, but also has a significant high concentration. Now for me, dark chocolate is always the treatment for any problem.

Most bioflavonoid or lipoflavonoid pills are made from lemon peel. It is a powerful and economical source. Lemon is no longer just a tart fruit, it is becoming a medical superstar.
